Working for Boulder Open Spaces and being from a densely-populated, urban area has made me extremely mindful of our most precious natural resource: water. California is in an extreme drought (which experts predict will likely last for the next 15 years). It's amazing to me that a large percentage of the population does not modify their use in any way.
The City of Santa Monica Department of Sustainability supplies residents with a very simple tool that can help each person save: a shower timer. If a person cuts their water use by just 5 minutes a day they can save about 4, 500 gallons of water a year. We can all do our part.
